Ballyconnelly is an experienced small construction firm. Since 2005 we have been involved in traditional refurbishments of urban properties for sale or rent.
However our ambition was to produce affordable housing that was also very thermal efficient
and used eco-principles of sustainability.
We built four semi-detached houses in Queen Street using a brown-field site.

From our research and development process we learnt about best practice eco builds, and developed it further on the drawing board. Our first proof of concept for the Enkelt
project was the building of eco-homes in Dunoon, on the Firth of Clyde, Scotland.
To achieve an energy efficient home we used passive house (PassivHaus) standards set out by the Building Research Establishment.
We provided a highly insulated, airtight structure with heat recovery units that meets PassivHaus standard.
95% of the materials used in the build are based on recycled products or are provided by managed forests.
We have drawn up plans for twelve PassivHaus standard, affordable, 3 bedroom apartments on a brown-field site.

Captain Street is where our offices and yard are based.
We are drawing up plans to convert and add 16 PassivHause standard, affordable, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
Outline plans for 5 PassivHaus standard, affordable, 3 bedroom, split-level townhouses.
